Whether your deck is brand new or old and weathered with stain still on it. I have years of experience with 100s of decks and privacy fences. My process is simple, before pressure washing I pre soak with a chemical mixture that is safe on plants but hard on mold and algae. If needed a light stripper might be applied if the previous stain is worn enough to remove it to bare wood. Although most cases call for solid stain applied very generously with an airless paint sprayer and then back brushed to ensure an even finish. Newer wood can be cleaned and sealed with a clear or wood toned sealer to keep the natural look and wood grain. Solid stain for old wood clear toned seamer for new wood.
